Journey further… How LawBite works
The legal market is full of law firms and other legal advice providers claiming to be different but here at LawBite we truly believe we are breaking the mould in how we approach and deliver legal advice. You can read here just how LawBite works. I'm a lawyer working with LawBriefs (the SRA regulated Law Firm which provides advice through the LawBite Platform). These are some of the differences I’ve noticed between LawBite and traditional legal offerings. Traditional firms use their most experienced (and expensive!) lawyers to reel you in and win your business. When it comes to the work being done, however, most of the time your file will be passed to the more junior assistants in the team – it’s the only way that high street and City firms can remain cost-effective. At LawBite we don’t have high overheads such as expensive offices to service and so funds can be invested into recruiting senior lawyers; LawBriefs, in general, have 10 years or more post qualification experience - meet the team. This experience may have been gained in-house or within a law firm, or sometimes a combination of both, but each time you have contact with a LawBrief lawyer, you can be confident that you are dealing with someone who, not only is an expert in their field but also has years of experience of working closely with businesses and understanding their needs. The absence of high overheads also means that LawBriefs lawyers can be extremely competitive on price; our hourly rates are a fraction of those charged by traditional firms for lawyers of a similar experience. All charges are completely transparent - lawyers are charged at a flat charge-out rate and work is quoted for up-front on a fixed-fee basis, ensuring you can plan your legal spend and that there are no scary bills at the end of a matter. Most law firms are reluctant to give away any of their know-how to clients but at LawBite we are committed to making legal advice accessible for businesses of all sizes. Accessibility for SMEs was one of the key principles upon which LawBite was created by Clive Rich Founder and Chairman. We offer a range of pricing plans to (genuinely!) fit all budgets and by signing up, you will gain access to our full range of plain English template documents. We understand and try to adapt to the fact that, for some businesses having a set of lawyer-drafted documents to work from is sufficient, whereas others want a named lawyer at the end of the phone who understands their business. We aim to be the default option, regardless of your requirements. Lawyers often get a bad press for speaking in outdated ‘legalese’ but all LawBriefs are passionate about cutting out the nonsense and delivering advice that is easy to understand and to the point. The Telegraph published an article which focused on comparing some typical legal clauses with a LawBite "translation". Because LawBriefs lawyers are in control and have ownership of their workloads, far more so than within a traditional law firm, we are able to deliver advice efficiently and, where required, within tight timeframes. As the LawBite platform operates online it means that clients are able to stay in touch with their lawyer through our mobile app or website. This is a great way to get any straightforward questions answered quickly. If you still need some convincing, it also worth remembering that all LawBriefs operate through LawBriefs Limited, a Solicitors Regulation Authority regulated law firm. We think this is the best of both worlds: affordable, clear and responsive legal advice delivered against the backdrop of the security of a regulated law firm. From a personal perspective, LawBite has given me the opportunity to continue to progress my career at a time in my life when I would otherwise have had to take a step back if I had wanted to balance the needs of my young family. It offers a truly flexible way of working with access to stimulating and exciting work - LawBriefs lawyers really buy into the business model and want to make it work, meaning that clients benefit from enthusiastic and motivated lawyers. I spent the first years of my career in Corporate private practice, followed by a long spell in-house. Whilst this gave me a solid legal grounding and, latterly, taught me plenty about delivering advice in a commercial, client-friendly way, it had been a long time since I had stepped out of my comfort zone. LawBite puts its LawBriefs in charge of their own destiny and for me, this has made me more efficient in how I handle work and more proactive in progressing matters for clients – without a doubt making me a better lawyer!
