Simon Newman is a barrister providing a full range of advice and advocacy services to clients across different business fields. He engages in the full range of civil and commercial litigation, and has particular experience advising on contractual documents, insurance policies and statements of case in litigation. He advises on commercial, chancery, insolvency, and insurance matters, and has investigated and reported on complaints for regulatory bodies.
Prior to practice Simon worked in Government, dealing with regulatory issues particularly in the legal field. He currently accepts instructions from the Government Legal Department and has advised London Borough Councils in respect of complex frauds.
Simon enjoys working with small businesses and experiencing the drive and ambition of the sector. He also realises how important early stage legal advice is to businesses as a way of affording more costly pitfalls in the future in a tough business environment. Simon is keen to see small businesses succeed and hopes to be able assist them and join them on their journey to success.

Simon was awarded the Walter Wigglesworth Scholarship and a Hardwicke entrance scholarship by Lincoln's Inn. He used to teach undergraduate law at the University of Sheffield and was a technical editor for the 'Law for Small Business for Dummies' text. He has previously won a UK-wide mooting competition and has contributed to EU funded projects dealing with cross-border litigation.
Outside of work Simon is an avid traveller, keen Snowboarder and sports fan (football, cricket and rugby). More leisurely interests of Simon's include music and photography.
Spanish - Simon has enrolled in various language classes and schools across the Spanish speaking world including in Spain, Argentina and Colombia, and he has travelled extensively in South and Central America to improve his Spanish.
