Experience

Deirdre Gadsby is a solicitor with more than 12 years’ experience across disputes resolution, regulatory investigations, financial services, employment and labour law.

Deirdre began her legal career in Local Government and the non-profit sector in London. On qualifying, she worked for Thompsons in London, acting for trade unions and their members on a range of employment and labour matters. Her legal background extends into other areas, giving her a cross-functional perspective that provides unique insight with expertise ranging from commercial and civil litigation to financial crime.

For the past 6 years, she has been a Contract Lawyer assisting in large, multi-jurisdictional matters in particular, regulatory investigations including case strategy, analysis of international financial institutions in relation to corporate governance and risk management controls for the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and for some of the US and UK’s leading firms in London and Zurich.

During 2017 to 2019, Deirdre was an associate lawyer in the FCA’s Enforcement & Market Oversight division - assisting in actions to sanction, authorised firms and individuals in cases including consumer credit where the loss to creditors and consumers was in the region of £2.5 – £5 million. Her earlier roles ranged from an intern for the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) in New York to an Employment Law Representative for the Free Representation Unit in London.

Education

Deirdre received her legal training from the University of Westminster and BPP University. She also holds LLMs in Labour Law from Queen Mary, University of London and General Studies from Benjamin N. Cardozo Law School, New York and a Diploma in Financial Crime Prevention from International Compliance Association/Manchester Business School.


Other Interests

In her spare time, she enjoys going to art galleries, theatre, music events/festivals, visiting distilleries on her holidays and designing home furnishings.
