Christopher Hanges

Christopher Hanges is a barrister (call 2010) with significant drafting and advocacy experience, regularly appearing in court as counsel. Christopher is equally adept at advisory and litigation work, having both private practice and in-house experience. He has been authorised to conduct litigation since 2017 at a Magic Circle firm. Christopher utilises his practical know-how and detail orientated approach to try and achieve the best result for the client at all stages of a legal problem or dispute. 

Regardless of the industry, type, or size of client, Christopher is very passionate about getting to know how things work with his client, and the industry in which they operate, to better understand the legal challenges faced and how to solve them. This is reflected in Christopher’s diverse in-house practice, previously as the sole lawyer within a notable asset manager, and from 2017 being engaged as general counsel to a disruptor food and beverage brand. 

Christopher can provide assistance in a wide variety of civil and commercial matters from initial query to the conclusion of a transaction, dispute or litigation. Christopher routinely acts in the areas of general commercial work (contract, advisory, disputes and debt recovery), insurance (liability and coverage), aviation (commercial and regulatory), professional and medical negligence. Christopher has also in the past received instructions in the areas of property, chancery, land, planning, and insolvency/bankruptcy.
