Last week, as was widely reported in the news, the Employment Tribunal decided that Uber drivers were workers. Uber had claimed that the drivers were not its workers but that they were self-employed, in business on their own account.

New Right For Expectant Fathers & Partners Of Pregnant Women

From 1 October 2014, expectant fathers and partners of pregnant women are entitled to unpaid time off work to attend two antenatal appointments. This new right to attend antenatal appointments is one of a number of changes to family friendly rights that the Government is introducing over the next few months, including the new right to shared parental leave and pay, which will feature in a future blog.
